This rare opportunity brings together specialists in early modern North Indian languages and literature in the Southern Hemisphere for the first time. --- ## Workshop Overview The workshop, affectionately known by some as "Braj Camp," offers participants an immersive experience in: - Collaborative reading of significant early Hindi texts - Manuscript studies and palaeography - Analysis of linguistic and literary features - Discussion of interpretive challenges - Methodological approaches to working with pre-modern texts Each day will feature focused sessions led by recognised experts in the field who will guide participants through selected texts, traditions, and critical issues. --- ## Who Should Attend? *This workshop is designed for:* - Academic researchers working with early modern North Indian texts - Advanced Ph.D. students with experience reading older forms of literary Hindi - Scholars with interest in Braj Bhasha, Avadhi, Sant Bhasha, and related literary languages - Those looking to deepen their skills in manuscript analysis and interpretation **Prerequisites:** Participants should have prior experience reading early modern forms of Hindi. While experience with manuscripts is valuable, it is not required—the workshop will accommodate various levels of familiarity with manuscript materials. --- ## Program Structure ### Daily Format - **1 Morning Session:** a guided close reading of selected texts & related thematic discussions - **1 Afternoon Session:** another close reading session of the same or differing subject as the morning session - **Evening Activities:** Informal gatherings and cultural events (optional) ### Reading Materials *Participants will work with:* - Printed critical editions - Facsimiles of manuscripts - Digital reproductions of rare texts ### Confirmed Session Leaders - session leaders to be announced after EOI is closed --- ## Registration Information ### How to Register Registration for the 'Old Hindi Reading Workshop' will become available through a **Humantix** portal in the near future.
